Passive and Active immunity

Passive Vs. Active immunity

What is Immunity?

  • Immunity is how your body reacts to infections or diseases.  To be immune to something it means that the specific disease you keep getting does not effect you because your body knows how to work with it due tot the fact you've had it before.

2 types

Passive

  • Acquired when antibodies produced by other organisms is inserted into another person to counter attack antigens
  • Once in your body it starts fighting immediately .
  • You can have reactions .
  • It does not last over a long period of time, usually a span of a couple days .

Active
  • Your body produces the antibodies needed to fight.
  • Exposed to pathogens
  • Does not start fighting immediately, it takes a while to kick in.
  • Lasts over a long period of time

Reflection: After researching this subject I learned that passive and active immunity is not the only immunity's.  There is artificially acquired when includes shots and vaccines and there is natural immunity which includes mothers  breastfeeding a child.  Immunity is used in our everyday life even if we are not thinking about it.

  1. This is well done Connor, I like how your reflection looks professional and works well. The only think I see that you can fix "Immunity's" with immunities. But very nice again and make your citation mla format.

  2. This is short and simple, very quick, and helpful. I'm not very strong on this subject so this is definitely going to be a blog I study. It seems as if you learned a lot in your reflection. I would add maybe one more visual or a video.

  3. I like this because its short and gets the point across which is nice when studying so many topics. The only thing I would change is adding more visual elements like colors and such. Overall it was really good I can tell that you learned a lot from your reflection.
