Lab Safety

Lab Safety - Faith Lawing:
Rules:
- Report all accidents, injuries, breakage that occurs during the lab.
- Long hair must be tied up and out of the face.
- No eating or drinking at all in the presence of any lab.
- Wear safety googles to protect your eyes from chemicals and closed toed shoes to prevent from injuries if you spill something.

Overview:
At the beginning of every science class (biology, chemistry, etc.) students are required to sign a lab safety contract.
It can be easy to get injured during experiments/labs, so be sure to take all your precautions, but have fun!
During the lab, you should be educated on all the tools and know how to properly use them.

Reflection:
During this topic, I learned why safety is so important during labs and what precautions should be taken. I was surprised by how many precautions need to be taken during each lab. I did know most of the rules for lab safety, but this year in biology, we advanced and I have learned a lot more. I have also learned more information on things that I already knew. Lab safety is important outside of biology because of the safety precautions.

  1. You did really well. Do you take lab safety really seriously? If I could've added to this I would've explained what would happen if someone did not follow those rules, to show how important it really is.

  2. You did a good job on stating the basic facts for lab safety and I like how you talked directly to the reader, as it would appeal more to the reader's attention. I agree that lab safety is very important in the classroom and elsewhere, because safety is the top priority in all activities, especially if it involves dangerous chemicals or equipment that can easily injure participants. Another detail that I would have added is that when you are preparing for a lab, students should make sure that pathways are clear of possible items that can cause injuries or accidents to occur.

  3. i really like how straight forward your blog is. it makes it easier to review very fast. This is all very good serious information, just like the fact hair must be tied up and goggles MUST BE WORN.
