Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis

Main Idea: A process that involves taking radiant energy to convert to food, known as glucose, in plants.

Photosynthesis can only be found in autotrophs,
which are organisms that create their own food.

The organelle that it is synthesized in are chloroplasts.

The combination of carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight is essential as it makes glucose and oxygen. Oxygen is necessary for survival, without it, we would not be alive. It's also crucial for this process to work as it provides the products that are used as reactants in cellular respiration.

Fun Facts:
1. It the most important chemical process on the earth, providing oxygen for humans as well as the other organisms that rely on plants for their main source of consumption.
2. There are two types of chlorophyll.
3. Oxygen can be located within the ocean as phytoplankton contribute to 70% of the world's amount.

Reflection:
Reviewing this topic was definitely a refresher as I remember struggling with it a lot when learning about it initially. This topic reminded me how involved a process is related to another and how we function based on interaction.

  1. I feel like the way that photosynthesis was describe was a good and easy way to understand what photosynthesis is. I think that the way photosynthesis occurs in chloroplast that could have been explained a little bit more in. I would have add a video.

  2. I love the format in the way you put the entire things together. The interactive was very fun and a good addition to the blog. I also struggled with this topic when we first started and reading this gave me a good refresher on what photosynthesis is. I think you should have added a video to the content such as this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDwUVpOEoE4

  3. Your blog post is very well put together and very informative. This topic can be kind of hard for me also, do you feel like you know the topic better now? The reactants and products of photosynthesis could have been explained more in depth.

  4. I like that your definition is simple and straight to the point. This is good that is this a review for you. You can add how cellular respiration connects to photosynthesis.

  5. I love how your blog post is set up because it is easy for me to read. I used to struggle with this topic a little bit too and reading over your blog post was a great refresher for me to review it. One thing I would have added that would be an extra fact would be to relate photosynthesis to cellular respiration because they can go hand in hand.

  6. I liked how you included fun facts at the end of your blog, as it makes your blog even more complete with its great details. As of your reflection, I agree that photosynthesis can be a confusing topic at first but when you realize how important it is to you, as it helps with your body process of cellular respiration, it gives you so much more understanding and another view at how a lot of our environment's processes are truly interrelated. Another detail that I would mention would be the function of the chlorophyll for plants, as they help capture radiant energy from sunlight for photosynthesis.

  7. I like how you made your post very friendly. You provided many resources to refer to if this is a struggling topic for someone. You said that you struggled with this topic, were the interactives something that helped you? I would have included an explanation of how the chloroplast in a cell aid in photosynthesis.

  8. I like the picture that you added, it really helps to explain photosynthesis. I agree that this topic was confusing at first, but after reviewing it was a lot easier. Something that I would add is what the chemical equation is instead of just the words.
