Ribosomes
Main Ideas:
-Ribosomes manufacture proteins
-On the Rough ER
-In both prokaryotes and eukaryotes
-Makes proteins based off tRNA instructions
Summary:
The Ribosome works closely with RNA and DNA to make proteins, its essentially a manufacturing plant. One of the few organelles in all cells. Failures in the process of making DNA result in mutations and many diseases, many of which can be traced back to the ribosome.
Reflection:
I thought this unit was fairly easy as it was just memorizing a few functions of the Ribosome. I enjoyed it since I understood it well.

This website provides a great and simple explanation of the Ribosomes function and location in the cell

I like the straight to the point kind of deal. The only thing I would say you could add if probably more information. In your reflection you say that you understand pretty well but other people might not so add more information and explain more concepts of the ribosomes.
ReplyDeleteI like that this is short and sweet to review with, since I already understand the ribosome. Although for one that is confused by this subject I think they may need more information to fully understand the topic. As you mention in your reflection "memorize a few functions of the ribosome", what other functions does a ribosome have besides synthesizing protein? I would have loved if you had a little spice in the way you organized the presentation and maybe you could add a video such as the one below to help explain the ribosome.
