Despite the evolution in treatment for cystic fibrosis the life expectancy is still 38 years old. Caused a a single gene caused by one or more of the 1,700 known mutations. Cystic fibrosis effects the liver, pancreas, and other intestines. Some mutations cause the protein not to be made. Others allow a partial protein to be synthesized. Other mutations occur at just the wrong place and prevent the salt channel from opening. They have cures for some of the mutations but since there is over 1,700 mutations they're working on finding something to cure all the different mutations. The most common cases are in white people of Northern European ancestry. It is a recessive disorder. If two carriers have a child there is a 25% chance of the offspring to have cystic fibrosis.

reflection-
I already knew a bit about Cystic Fibrosis due to touching on if briefly in 8th grade in a disease project but we didn't go into the smaller details and how it effects the genes with mutations. I chose Cystic Fibrosis so that I could expand my knowledge on a topic that was somewhat foreign to me. I learned about how many different ways you can acquire Cystic Fibrosis and that genuinely surprised me. It was interesting to see how a little mutation could cause such a life threatening disease.

I like the picture that shows what the disease does, It helped me understand its severity better. I think that in your reflection, you unintentionally made it sound like a disease you can catch from others. I also like that you included treatment as we didn't cover that aspect of the disease.
